Accreditation

CARF Review — July 14–15, 2025

Carolinas Home Care Agency, Inc. underwent its CARF International survey on July 14–15, 2025. CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services that evaluates providers against rigorous quality and service delivery standards.

CHCA currently holds Three-Year Accreditation — the highest level of recognition CARF awards — for the following programs:

  • Community Integration (Employment & Community Services)
  • Personal Supports Services (Employment & Community Services)
  • Respite Services

Three-Year Accreditation demonstrates that an organization has put forth a concentrated effort to achieve a higher standard of performance. It means the agency has demonstrated conformance to industry standards, a commitment to ongoing quality improvement, and the capacity to provide services that meet the needs of persons served.

For Families & Providers

Healthcare & Home Care Updates

Healthcare, Medicaid, behavioral health, and home and community-based services continue to evolve across North Carolina. Carolina's Home Care Agency follows important updates so families, caregivers, and care teams can make informed decisions with confidence.

Why This Matters for Families

For families, this highlights the importance of working with providers who stay current with waiver requirements, documentation, and service standards. Choosing an informed, compliant provider helps ensure continuity of services for individuals with I/DD.

Why This Matters for Families

Accreditation and compliance help families understand whether a provider is prepared to meet evolving care expectations. Providers who meet national standards are better positioned to deliver consistent, quality services as program requirements change.

Why This Matters for Families

Families seeking I/DD services, supported living, or community-based care in North Carolina may face waitlists or changing program availability, making early planning important. Staying informed about advocacy efforts and budget discussions can help families anticipate shifts in service access.

Why This Matters for Families

Families who depend on Medicaid-funded services should stay informed and keep communication open with care providers and care coordinators. Funding and oversight decisions at the state level can affect access, service availability, and long-term planning for individuals in home care, residential care, and community-based programs.

Why This Matters for Families

Families should feel empowered to ask providers about communication, documentation, transparency, and service expectations. Choosing a provider with an established compliance record — like a CARF-accredited agency — can offer added confidence as the industry faces increased scrutiny.

Why This Matters for Families

Understanding LTSS can help families compare home care, respite care, supervised living, residential care, and community-based support options in North Carolina. Knowing what is available — and how services differ — supports better care planning conversations with providers and care coordinators.

Why This Matters for Families

This helps families better understand the difference between daily living support, home care, residential care, and other community-based services in North Carolina. Knowing what Personal Care Services cover — and who qualifies — is an important first step in exploring options for a loved one who needs additional support.
